Planter Turned Reading Nook

We all have a 1960’s planters in the middle of our home right? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Well we are lucky enough to have one in our home.

We eventually want to bust it out and just add bench seating with a round table but right now the budget doesn’t allow that. For now we are in the process of recovering the cushion for the top and making a few pillows to make it a little “reading nook”.

I decided to white wash the brick just like the fireplace. That was the first step.

photo 2-1I think the white wash really brings out the texture of the brick.

photo 1-1These are the fabrics I got to cover. My grandma is cranking through them and hopes to have at least the biggest part done before the reveal party this weekend. I cannot wait to see the finished product and show you all the pictures!

What quick fixes have you come up with in your home to cover up the weird stuff that was in your home when you bought it?
