Micah- 9 Month Update

You are the HAPPIEST baby I have ever encountered!

You are still very tall and skinny and now you have curly curly hair. It is the cutest!

  • If mommy is in the room you want me to be playing with you, holding you or feeding you. Heaven forbid I leave the room of you will start crying.
  • You just love people and everyone loves you!!!
  • You wear a size 3 diaper an 9-12 month clothes.
  • You are so mobile! You had been trying to crawl for about a month, kind of dragging your body behind your arms but in the last week you just took off!
  • You sit perfectly and really have great control of your body. I am sure you will start pulling up in the next week or so.
  • You can hold your own bottle which you think is pretty cool. You like playing with it after you have it all drank.
  • You are in your bed from 9am-11am and 1pm-3pm. Usually you are asleep but sometimes you just lay in bed and play.
  • You love the tag blanket I made for Eli and sleep with it all the time! You hold it with your right arm and put your middle and index finger of your left hand in your mouth.
  • You are now in a big boy car seat and really like being able to look out the window.
  • You think Eli is hilarious! You love anytime he is playing near you.
  • You take three bottles a day at meal times 7 oz each and you love food! Stage 2 is where you are now but you want to eat everything on mommy and daddy’s plate. I hope to try stage 3 by next month.
  • You have three teeth. Your two bottom teeth and the top left tooth, but not the front tooth the one next to it.
  • You sleep usually 7 to 7 but if you aren’t asleep again you just play in bed. I love it in the mornings!!

Sidekick 29 Week Bumpdate!

photo 1(10)

photo 2(10)How far along: 29 Weeks! Woot Woot!!!!

Baby is the size of a: Acorn Squash Average size: 15.2-16.7 inches, 2.5-3.8 lb.

Maternity clothes:  Yes and Yes!!

Stretch marks:  No and No!

Sleep:  Well as of two days ago the whole family is sick with a cold so none of us is really sleeping well. I have been INSANELY tired this week so say the least. I was tested for Anemia which would answer a lot of that but I will have to wait until next week to get the results. Aaron made me go to bed one night at 9 and it was the best thing he could have ever done for me. I just want more sleep!!!

Best moment of this week:  Potty training Eli! He has been a real trooper.  Two accidents or less each day and that is more on us the parents than on him. He is really doing amazing! I am so glad we decided to wait till I was home and could really spend the time with him. We are so proud of him to say the least!

Miss anything:  Sleep and being able to breath. You always take your health for granted until you are sick.

Movement:  He is very erratic. He will go for hours with nothing and then won’t stop. There are some nights that I think he might kick his way out of me.

Food cravings:  This week it has been donettes. Yummers! The little powdered ones!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  The drainage from this cold. Ha! But seriously, not really any foods have tasted good to me but I think it is just from the allergies and cold I am fighting.

Gender:  Boy oh Boy!

Labor signs:  No. Some cramping but nothing the doctors are worried about.

Belly button in or out:  In for the time being.

Wedding rings on or off: Off.

Happy or moody most of the time:  This week I have been really sad. For no reason really. It has been a wonderful week. Potty training Eli has been fun and my time with Aaron has been wonderful but I just think the hormones are getting me. I am really tired and really sad. I am sure this will pass soon. We are just chalking it up to this being what the third trimester is like since I have never been here before. Ha!

Looking forward to: Feeling better! I have my last work trip this week to sunny Florida and I am hoping that I feel better for that. Otherwise, I will be sick, swollen and irritable because I hate heat and we all know that Palm Beach is not cool in late June. Also we got family/maternity pictures taken today with our friend Nate Holloway and I cannot wait to see the finished product!

Eli is 3!!

This is my annual mommy update just so I have it for my records. So if this type of thing bores you feel free to skip on by. This is just an easy way to keep all of Eli’s information in one place so I can reference it in the future. Like last years two year post and this post here and here. I did a great job keeping up monthly the first year and since one switched to yearly.

photo 1(3)It seems crazy how much has changed with Eli in the last year but then looking back not a whole lot has changed as well.

Weight: 33 lbs.

Height: 38 inches

Head Circumference: 19 ½ inches

  • You wear a size 5 diapers unfortunately we haven’t mastered potty training. Mostly because Mommy just started staying home with you and we travel too much to attempt. Hoping this happens in the next month. Fingers crossed.
  • You wear size 2T-3T shirts depending on brand.
  • Your pants range from size 24 months to 3T. You have a tiny little waste, but a huge belly after you eat. Also your legs are really long so length is always an issue.
  • Your favorite foods are chicken, cheese, pastas, and breads! Basically anything starchy! Your favorite snacks are goldfish, animal crackers, pretzels, graham crackers and pudding. And you LOVE eating chips with daddy!
  • You have just started to like carrots which mommy and daddy are thrilled about!
  • You greet Mommy every morning at your bedroom door and say “Good morning Mommy! Breakfast?”
  • You love all of us but Gampa is your favorite for sure. You love to be outside with him in the woods.
  • You are running at top speeds and you think it awesome to chase and be chased!
  • You play hide and seek with us but are pretty bad because you like to hide in the same place over and over again and you talk ALOT but we still love the play time with you.
  • You get to stay home with Mommy now, ever since June and we love it! Lots of play time.
  • You can count to twenty mostly usually skipping the number 4 and you can halfway say your ABC’s.
  • You know almost all your shapes but don’t have a clue about colors yet. Everything is blue or red.
  • You love looking at books by yourself and you love all the Eric Carle books about bears. You have memorized them and it is our greatest joy to wake up and hear your reading/reciting them to yourself in the mornings.
  • Cars and anything that can fly are your choice toys. Also your drum and harmonica.
  • You are very good a picking your toys up and you know just where everything goes.
  • You like to sleep with two blankets. Your superman blanket from Gigi and your daddy’s baby blanket.
  • You have slept in a big boy (toddler) bed all year and will move to a twin bed in the next month or so.
  • You love shoes!!! Yours especially. You love to put on different pairs and run as fast as you can around the house.
  • You go a four wheeler that you love driving around the yard.
  • You can turn on lights all by yourself now because you are getting so tall.
  • You now use an inhaler twice a day so long gone are the days of the 30 minute nebulizer! Mommy and Daddy love it as do you!
  • You love movies and Disney Junior on TV. Your favorite show is Little Einstein by far and you love any and all of the Ice Age movies as well as Cars, Planes, Peter Pan and any of the Tinker Bell movies.
  • You are obsessed with Mommy’s hair. You love to touch it.
  • Daddy is your favorite play partner because you wrestle and he flys you around the house. You have most recently started head butting one another.
  • You talk in some full sentences and you do a pretty good job communicating with us. When you get really excited you just say “ticka ticka ticka ticka” and then whatever actual word you can think of.

IMG_3199You are the light of our lives and you bring us so much joy! You are very strong willed and have a big personality. You are stubborn and VERY smart. You are so observant it is shocking to me. You can already tell us how to get to Gamma and Gampa’s house as well as the park simply because you pay attention.

We could not be more proud of you. I have learned in my hardest moments of parenting this year that nothing you can do will ever make me ashamed to be your Mommy. I am sure there will be bumps in the road of life but I know that Daddy and I will always be there for you. Thank you for your patience with us as we continue to learn this whole parenting thing. We love you to the moon and back.

Campbell’s Pumpkin Patch

We made our first visit to a local pumpkin patch and had a great time! Eli wasn’t really interested in story time so while the other kids sat and listened like angels we went and found leaves and acorns. Ha! Oh well. Maybe someday he will sit still. For now I will just enjoy the adventurous side of him.

We went with the local MOPS group and there were around 30 of us in total. There were goats, donkeys, a corn maze for bigger folks, a straw maze for the little ones and a great hey ride! The hay ride was for sure Eli’s favorite part. He was in total awe. Just sat looking around and putting hay in his mouth like a little country boy. It was so funny. While other kids tried to eat it Eli just held it in his mouth like a little old 80 year old man sitting on his porch in south Alabama. Super cute.

The best part for me was getting to spend time with my newest friend Laura! Her daughter Emma is close to the same age as Eli and I just love Laura’s company! She is a great mom and super creative which I love. Also, totally small world I knew her husband from high school back in Kentucky. Totally crazy story.

We bought two pumpkins and a really pretty white mum. They are now hanging out on our front porch. We liked it so much we took my dad back the next day to show him. They had the largest pumpkins I had ever seen with my own eyes. You could get the big ones for $50! No thanks!

Little Feet and Paint

Last week during all my house projects (I promise to blog about them sometime), I was trying to keep Eli entertained and so we took a painting break. Well he did. I had been painting walls all day and he wanted to get in on the paint action.

He had a great time and has been asking for paint every day since. Ha! Since it is a little messy I try to use it every so often rather than all the time.

I did what any good mom would do and I stripped him down to his diaper and just hoped that he got more on the bag than on his own body. Totally worth the hour of keeping him busy.

Night Night Time

Night night time is for sure my favorite time of day. Eli loves to put himself to bed but he lets us read the bible most nights and pray. I snapped a few shots tonight just so I can have them for the future but I just couldn’t help be share them.

What do your little ones like to do as their bed time rituals?

All Better

This post is just for memory sake.

We haven’t really started potty training Eli yet for two major reasons. 1. We aren’t sure he is ready and the main reason 2. is that I have not been home enough this summer to be able to commit to it. So, the plan is to tackle it in three weeks after all our traveling is done.

We talk about it have used the pot once but with that being said this was just a funny story that I want to tuck away for memory sake.

I was putting clothes away and came back to check on Eli. He had filled his diaper so we talked about someday using the potty as we walked back to his changing table. After I changed him and put him safely on the ground (he has been known to jump!). He walked away kind of skipping and saying “Now I’m all better!”.

I know, I warned you. It is anything too exciting but just a funny little moment with my littlest man. The small moments are my favorite times and I am not great at documenting them. He is growing up before my eyes and it is so bittersweet. I love the new developments but miss the tiny baby he used to be as well.

My goal is always to be present and in the moment. I am loving every minute and can’t wait to see the man Eli becomes but I will for sure miss this little diapered booty.

Plan for today, hug my little man a few extra times.

Eli’s Preschool “Graduation”

Lots to catch up on. This was months ago but I still want to document it for our own family record. So if you aren’t related you will probably be bored out of your mind reading this. Sorry in advance.

OK so the term graduation is a joke if you ask me since Eli is only two and it was really just a little 15 minute show of the kids singing. Regardless of what you want to call it it was precious.

Eli made it through maybe a song and then he saw me. You can tell from the pictures that he had a tough time. He was sitting on stage just crying “mommy” and it was so pitiful. I was in the middle of a bunch of folks and couldn’t get to him very quickly. It was so sweet and saw to watch.

The teacher had her back to me and didn’t see me. He kept trying to get to me but they couldn’t tell where he was going. After the song they saw Aaron and let him go sit. I was able to snap a few really really awful shots.

I know none of you read this for my amazing writing, editing, or photography skills…at least I hope not because they are both terrible! Way below average! All that to say everyone else next to me kept talking about how this was the worst place that had taken pictures. So that made me feel a little better.

Eli spent the rest of presentation sitting with “Gamma” and playing with stuff in her purse. He may not have stayed on stage for the whole thing but he has several years to practice for the real thing. I am loving having him home with me but I cherish the time he spent at “school” as well. He learned so much.

Kickin’ It Old School

My newest DIY project for the little man was a throwback for sure! When I told Aaron what I was making he was like, “You’re making what?”. He had never used a felt board!!! Can you believe that?!?! Well those of us who are a little older remember those old school felt boards. They had all the characters cut out and they told all the bible stories on one board.

I saw the one below on another blog and thought I could do that! So here we are! I made one myself and it was so easy!!!!!

Source (Funathomewithkids.com)

I bought a yard of felt at Joann’s for $4.00 and it was plenty!! It was doubled over so I had double what I actually needed. We had the board but I am sure it is only a few bucks. I laid the felt out, put the wood on top and then simply folded it over and stapled it. Again, super easy!!!!!! I cannot say it enough. So easy!

The colored felt was .25 at Hobby Lobby  so I bought $5 worth and have made cars, trees, clouds, sun, moon, shapes, etc. Alex made the awesome little squirrel for Eli and he loves it. Aaron left me this sweet little note on Mother’s Day.

This is what Eli thinks of the board thus far, but hopefully in the future he will be totally into it.

What new things have you tried that your kids aren’t quite into yet? I love trying new things and I know he will like it soon. Regardless I know we will make memories. That is the point. Just spending time with our families.
